• Charlotte Mackenzie

    DIRECTOR & CHAIR OF TRUSTEES

    Charlotte has been working to improve access to justice in Malawi, in partnership with the Centre for Human Rights Education Advice and Assistance (CHREAA), since January 2012. She first travelled to Malawi after being awarded a scholarship to intern with CHREAA for 4 weeks and ended up staying 4 months. She has returned to Malawi frequently over the last 8 years and has worked closely with the Legal Aid department, Judiciary, Police and Prison Service in Malawi, to establish the Bail Project. She is a practising Barrister in the UK with Staple Inn Chambers.

    Isobel holds a degree in social policy from the London School of Economics, and has worked in the international development sector, including within microfinance, for over 10 years.

  • Amanda Walker

    TRUSTEE

    Amanda Walker is a barrister practising in the UK at Goldsmith Chambers. She became involved in the Malawi Bail Project after working with remandees in Malawi on behalf of the Centre for Capital Punishment Studies, and in conjunction with the Centre for Human Rights Education and Assistance (CHREAA) and the Legal Aid Department.

  • Michael Hynds

    Michael is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with over 26 years of financial accounting, consulting and related experience. Since 2013, he has worked almost exclusively in international relief and development settings, for consulting firms and international charities operating predominantly in Africa, Southeast Asia and South America. Most recently, Michael has been based in Sierra Leone, Kenya and Tanzania at maternal health and education establishments. Michael graduated from the University of St Andrews in 1994 with an MA in Economics.
